Have you ever been lucky enough to visit the rural Manitoban towns of Sanford, Brunkild and Domain? The landscape is beautiful open prairie, embraced by endless sky. Sean and I recently had an opportunity to experience the hospitality of the people that live in these places when we shot the wedding of Eric and Candace Boyd on June 7, 2008.
Earlier in the year, on a very cold winter day, we shot the couple’s engagement session at the Boyd Farm in Sanford. Eric is a semi-pro snow mobile racer and the couple wanted some shots of the both of them on his snow mobile.
The couple used shots from this photo session in their guest book:

On the morning of the wedding, the bride and bride’s maids woke up early for their appointment with Lisa Pasieczka at Colors for Hair in LaSalle, Manitoba. They then went to Joelle’s Esthetics & Spa (204-736-3552), also in LaSalle, for their makeup. Both locations offered a trial run one month prior to the big day. According to the Bride, the staff of Joelle’s, along with Lisa did an amazing job at coordinating both hair and makeup the day of the wedding.
The bride purchased the perfect dress at Stella’s Bridal Galleria, where she found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. There, she was also able to buy some beautiful accessories – her necklace and purse. The groom and groom’s men looked handsome in tuxedos from Moores. Safeway Florist (care of Carol), on Kenaston at McGillivray, arranged all of the flower bouquets and boutonnieres. The couple was very happy with the service that Safeway provided ensuring that the arrangements were all according to spec, and priced reasonably.

The wedding ceremony took place at the Brunkild Memorial Hall, presided over by Barb Lepp. Candace’s father created a beautiful wooden pergola structure that decorated the front of the hall, and wooden lanterns that lit the both sides of the main aisle. These were really wonderful gifts that the couple also used to decorate the reception hall and then took home afterward for their garden. Adding another personal touch to the ceremony, the bride and her father walked down the aisle together to music that was played and sung by the couple’s good friend, Charlie.

The couple chose three locations for their photo shoot: the family portraits were done at the hall right after their ceremony, the entire wedding party then boarded a limo and traveled together to the Brunkild Bar and Grill for a few refreshments and some quick photos, followed by group shots in an open field near a bridge, and finally to friend’s property where we used an old barn and watering hole as backdrops for some great shots.

The reception was held at Domain Community Hall, care of coordinator, MariAnne (204-736-2997). The hall is a new facility and features an in-house caterer, Vern Cole Catering (204-736-4409) who prepared an awesome buffet of delicious food. We were told that it is a bit difficult to find a great in-house caterer with halls in the country, so the couple felt very lucky and were very, very impressed with the services provided by the staff of Domain Community Hall.
