Secrets to Planning an Amazing Wedding

Brides are inundated with shows like “Whose Wedding is it Anyway?” and “Get Married.” We have been trained to watch these shows and envy the glamour and glitz of these weddings. But why? Anyone can have the same type of wedding, with the same elegance and sophistication on any budget.

There are 7 secrets to an amazing wedding. These tips are things that will help any bride, with any budget, create an outstanding and lavish wedding.

1. Make a Budget – No matter how extensive your budget is, you need to make sure that you make one. Even people who have an unlimited budget know what they are able to spend. The main thing is to keep track of what is going where. This is something that needs to be done early in the planning process. Before you start looking for photographers, reception sites, caterers or flowers, you need to know how much you can spend. This will really help during your search for each piece of your special day.

2. Date and Time of Day mean everything – When deciding on your wedding date and time take into consideration what type wedding you want to have. Formal weddings are usually later in the day. Casual ones are earlier. The later in the day, the heavier the food served. Earlier weddings are mean lighter hors d’oeurvres and later weddings are sit down dinners. Spring and Summer weddings are more popular, but tend to cost more for vendors and venues.

3. Visit more than one Venue before making a decision – The more places you visit, the more familiar you are with what you like and don’t like. Every venue is different and has different elements that make it unique. There are so many venues here in Richmond. Get out and explore them.

4. Pick a ceremony and reception site that will compliment you and your fiancé – A venue site can speak volumes about a bride and groom. You want your guest to leave your wedding feeling like they have truly experienced a wonderful event. This can really be achieved by picking a venue that perfectly illustrates you and your fiancé.

5. Pick wedding vendors that you feel comfortable with, not that are the cheapest – Any vendor that you pick is going to be working with you throughout this joyous process. A lot of people will go with the cheapest vendor out of the group. But you want to use someone that you feel comfortable talking to, someone who sees your vision and truly knows what you want, not what they want you to want. There is a difference.

6. What is important to you – By the time you get well underway with wedding planning, you will soon learn that there are multitudes of people that want to HELP you plan your wedding. You have to keep in mind what is important to you. It is you and your fiancé’s wedding, so make sure that people know this and understand that “It is YOUR wedding.”

7. Relax – This is definitely easier said than done. Just the mere thought of planning your wedding causes more stress than most people experience in their whole life. But if you make sure to take some time out of the day for it, even if it is only for a few minutes, it really can help.

These tips are just a few simple things that you can do to have a great wedding.
